Hi, m8s!
I bought by my Newspapers shop another Altaya model:
It's an old Dassault Aviation jet: a Super Mystère SMB2 of the Escadron de Chasse EC 3/12 then 2/12 "Cornouaille", based at the Base Aérienne BA 103 (christened: "Commandant René Mouchotte*"), Cambrai-Epinoy, France,1974. SMB2s were used by this EC from 1955 to late 1975 when Dassault Mirage F1 replaced them.
They were coded from "12-ZA" to "12-ZZ".
*Cdt René Mouchotte (Free French Air Force, DFC, Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur, Croix de Guerre, Compagnon de la Libération), commander of GC I "Alsace", later "Ile de France" (RAF Squ 341 Biggin Hill),
K.I.A 27/08/1943, aged 29.
Drawing Mouchotte. The author of this portrait is a painter
of the British Ministry of aviation, Eric Kennington. It seems to me that this portrait is displayed in the Biggin Hill pilots "holy" pub room.
EC II/12 Fighters Groups (Escadrilles)
The "Scorpion" motto of the 1st squ is worn on the right tail area, while the "Ulm mastiff" head of the 2nd squ is worn on the left part.
This model merits some improvements regarding fuselage halves and wings attachment jointing.
Precautiously made , that is the result: 3 photographs of the model and 1 of the real plane with 2 extra pics of the 12-ZX !
You can appreciate fuselage markings differences ... Especially the Scorpio motto colours.
Anyway, a "must have" for people like me !
