I'd say that in terms of functionality, that title would go to Unimax with their 1:32 aircraft, but in terms of detail, from what I have seen, Dragon Wings dominates the market. Feel free to dispute.

Really depends what scale your looking at, and which particular aircraft, some companies do certain models better than others and vice-versa. I dont really have many military models, but out of the ones I have, the HM ones seem nicer (1:72s)

When you look closely, the HM models are nicer, but from first glance and from a distance, the DW models appear to be more detailed. I was referring to curb-appeal, not specifics. I do agree that scales and model types matter.

Just a note… I'm referring to curb-appeal for detail, and specifics for functionality.

I would say that Unimax makes good 1:32 WW2 warbirds. However all those screws visible on the underside of the plane leave something to be desired. I had to paint them so they are not quite so noticeable. I feel that Corgi also makes a great 1:32 warbird except they quite making them, apparently. Franklin Mint made some decent looking 1:48 models but they are now gone out of business.. Hobbymaster also makes a good model but so far they don't make 1:32 fighters. The market for 1:32 models seems to have died due to lack of interest. I am glad that I got quite a few while they were still available as it is easier to see all the details on those models than it with the smaller scale craft. Some 1:32 models now for sale on Ebay these days are asking some out of this world prices
