Operated by Ansett Airlines in the 1960's. These aircaft were originally DC-4's that were converted to cargo duties. The cockpit area was raised to allow access to the fuselage. This was done by opening the nose of the aircraft. This is a Phoenix Model PH2AAA007

As far as I know Ansett only operated them as cargo aircraft. Because they were built from DC4 passenger aircraft the passenger windows were left in. In England they were configured as part cargo part passenger.

I see there are windows in the back..was this ever set-up as a combi or was it always just pure cargo?
