The Ju 290 served as a cargo plane, especially on the eastern front. Another candidate for the "Amerika Bomber" project. The winner was the 6 engined Junkers Ju 390 which made the way and back trip from Mont-de-Marsan, France, to the US undetected. But no operational issue took place before the end of war.
