- 11/2017: added N°49 item of the ALTAYA/IXO "1/43 WW2 Main Battletanks" series - Waffenträger Grille 17h auf Geschützwagen Tiger II für 17cm K72 (Sf) prototype in blueprint ordnance. It never saw achievement and was discovered by the allied forces in half mounted state. Germany 1945. I have to precise that, as a so called « Waffenträger », the main gun was not to be operated in the hull, but put down for the recoil of the 17cm gun was too important to let room in the hull. "The Geschützwagen Tiger was a German self-propelled gun of World War II that never saw service.
The decision to build this heavy artillery based on the chassis of the Tiger II came in June 1942. The first prototype was tested at the end of the war. However, due to Germany being on the brink of surrender, the vehicle never saw service, and was captured by the Allies. While several armaments were considered, the most practical guns to be mounted were the 17 cm Kanone 18, or the 21 cm Mörser 18." (Wikipédia)
- Regarding this Altaya//Ixo model: obliged to rework the gun position (advance it to place it in good position over the cradle mounting). Lack of the two recoil absorbing hydraulic jacks. Will try to model them.
