I was ecstatic to learn of the upcoming Hobby Master Release of the 2012 Blue Angels. As a child i have dreamed of owning a complete set of Blue Angels models. Hobby Master has done a fantastic job with their F-18 mould. Still, there is a details to be certain of before they produce this model, so until we see a pre-production picture, there is no guarantee of a fully accurate Blue Angel. Given the way they do business, I am confident Hobby Master will pull through with the greatest Blue Angel model after their A-4 Skyhawk and F-4 Phantom. The entire set with shipping costs approaches the 400 USD mark... I've never spent so much on models before, but its a dream come true, so this becomes an absolute must have... What makes this project fun is the fact that my son wants the no. 1 jet, so we get to enjoy this together...
SIX AIRCRAFT - DISPLAY
I am thinking of how to display all 6 models, whether to display them in the delta, which Cdr. McWherter and his team have flown the finest Delta sets in all the years i have watched the Blues... Solid formation with un-noticeable adjustments. Then again, what else could you expect from a TOPGUN instructor!? I will see about making a stand that will display all six blues... Man, this is getting exciting!
PAINT BY NUMBERS
I also need to figure out about the decal part. I have not applied slide decals in over 10 years. Also if they are stickers, I may seek an alternative to simply make a stencil and airbrush the numbers on the tails. Then theres the names and serial no. Overall, i hope that they are water slide decals... I can just clear coat the entire model after application...
CONFIRMED!
November 16, 2012
My wonderful wife got me a heck of a surprise for my birthday.... Solos 5 and 6. I placed a pre-order a few weeks back for 1-4 which was more than I have ever spent on diecast models at one time... It's time to work on a stand that will display all 6 jets in the delta set. Looking forward to December!

I received 1-4 this weekend, and just got the decals on. I plan on getting an airbrush to fix an error on the canopy frame. You can see that the stripe is off around the canopy area. I will also give all the models some inking on the exhaust nozzles and a clear gloss coat for a nice finish. I am still looking into how i will construct the stand.
